As many social media site users know today is known as Throwback Thursday, which is pretty much a perfect excuse to reminisce on the favorite past times. To honor our older movies I chose to pick my favorite series, Star Wars. My family has been a Star Wars family since the very beginning. My dad, brother, and I are pretty much obsessed.
Star Wars was released in 1977. The first three episodes in the series were A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi. These three movies contain Luke, Leia, Han Solo, and of course Darth Vader. Later in 1999 they began the series once again, The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, and Revenge of the Sith. The creators went back in time, and did prequels to the original three movies, which showed the viewers how Darth Vader began. Although these are older movies, there is a release coming out December 2015 called the Force Awakens. This film takes place after the Return on the Jedi. So it goes back to “present” time, which I’m not going to lie, I’m pretty excited about. This new film will include the original cast of Harrison Ford (Han Solo), Mark Hamill (Luke), and Carrie Fisher (Leia). Having a film that everyone in my family enjoys and can continue to bond over is something special. Our father bought us t-shirts, figurines, and of course we all have our own copies of all six movies. I think it is safe to say that the Garner’s are mega fans of this sci-fi series.

Another weekend allows American Sniper to take the top spot in the box office once again. I finally caved in and went to see it. I’m not going lie; it was intense. American Sniper seems to bring out the patriotism in everyone. I rounded up all my favorite moviegoers and asked them what their top 5 favorite war movies of all time. These were their responses: 1) Saving Private Ryan 2) Pearl Harbor 3) Fury 4) The Patriot 5) American Sniper I have seen all of the movies listed above, and if you haven’t I would encourage you to do so. There is nothing more important than our history, even if it is over dramatized by Hollywood. Click photos below to learn more information. All photos used from Rotten Tomatoes. After the long holiday weekend most of you have heard about the movie American Sniper. Sure American Sniper has had one of the largest opening weekends in a while but today I’m talking about The Wedding Ringer (R) that stars Kevin Hart and Josh Gad.
At the beginning of the movie Josh Gad’s character, Doug, is engaged to Kelly Cuoco-Sweeting’s character, Gretchen. They are only a week away from their big day, and Josh doesn't have any “guy friends” to fill his half of the wedding party. Doug is referred to Jimmy’s company. Doug hires Jimmy (Kevin Hart) to be his best man, but not only does Doug need a best man, he also needs seven other groomsmen, which is referred to as the Golden Tux. This laugh out loud comedy goes through a series of obstacles in order to get Doug to the altar without Gretchen catching on to the scheme. I was pleasantly pleased with this movie. It isn’t often that you can go to the movies to really laugh and enjoy the plot. I would pay to see this movie again, which is the ultimate complement for films. Overall, this would be a great movie for girl’s night, guy’s night. I would give The Wedding Ringer comedy a 5 out of 5. Well, let me correct you. This is a place where you can find explanations, ratings, and the perfect time to watch a certain movie. This blog contains reviews of old, and current movies. Let me explain why this blog is the to go place for your entire movie needs.
Ever since I was a little girl, movies were a huge part of my life. My father whom shall remain nameless (mostly because he would be embarrassed to have his name splashed across the world wide web) has always been a “movie lover”. He would tell us stories about how he used to collect laser discs and what movies he took my mother out to see when they were dating. Let me explain laser discs, for the young generation. They look like records but movies on them. He has always collected movies and let us experience movies with him, within reason of course. No R ratings in our household, mom’s rules. Watching movies is one of the Garner’s favorite past times. It gives us roughly two hours to escape and enjoy just being around one another. After our movie experience we all give it a rating, and say if we would watch it again. If we wouldn’t watch it again, it was a “trade in” to the local MovieStop. That’s why I am here. Lets be honest, everyone hates getting all ready for a movie to come out. You get in the car to go to the movies or go to rent the movie and it was a total waste of your time and money. At MovieTopia I give honest reviews. No, I’m not a movie critic and no my favorite movie isn’t some Academy Award winning film. We will get into my favorite movies later. I’m a simple, college aged, woman that likes to watch movies. That’s all that really matters, right? So, stop wasting precious time and welcome to MovieTopia. |
